How This Calculator Works

This tool checks six key tax-free allowances for the 2025/26 UK tax year: Personal Allowance, ISA allowance, pension annual allowance, Personal Savings Allowance, Dividend Allowance, and the CGT annual exemption. Enter your income and investment details across the three tabs, and the calculator shows unused allowances, potential tax savings, and a prioritised action plan.

Personal Allowance tapers by £1 for every £2 of income above £100,000, reaching zero at £125,140. The PSA depends on your tax band: £1,000 (basic rate), £500 (higher rate), or £0 (additional rate). ISA and CGT allowances are use-it-or-lose-it with no carry-forward. Pension contributions qualify for 20% tax relief and carry-forward is available for up to 3 prior years.
